Out of This World
The Western Cape is a marine treasure trove. It is easy to fall in love with the magic of its melting pot of biodiversity. A shark lovers paradise this coastline offers interns the opportunity to dive with pelagic species like blue sharks and mako sharks and coastal dwelling species including our endemic catsharks and the prehistoric sevengill cowshark. Who can forget the species this area is famous for – the great white shark?!
But like all of our programmes our Cape Town expedition is about more than the sharks that call South Africa home.
At the Marine Protection Project we believe in an ecosystem-based approach to conservation. Through our Cape Town expedition you will get the opportunity to experience breath-taking kelp forests, learn about the creatures big and small that inhabit the spectacular rocky coastline and engage in local community conservation initiatives.
But most importantly you will become equipped with the skills to make a difference to marine conservation and memories to last a lifetime.
